MY wife and I have just spent two lovely weeks in Spain. Good weather and hotel, and superb food. But every morning, a street sweeper swept the street, not a major road but a side street. Everywhere was so clean. Before I went away I went to Bury Town Hall to ask if we could have our street's pavements cleaned. I was told they are done every six weeks. I pointed out we still had last years leaves still on parts of the pavements, and said they blocked the grids. I reported three blocked grids. I was asked could I remove the leaves with my foot or use a stick. I wonder why I'm paying such a large rate bill for.  more...
